Rancid

Rancid for "Really Awesome New Cisco confIg Differ" is a tool that will automatically backup your network device configurations and will be able to compare the different versions with CVS (Concurrent Version System).
To save the configurations, Rancid will log into the network devices and copy the configurations. Thus, you will not need to activate the SMTP protocol on the network devices.
Rancid is not only able to backup Cisco switch and router configurations, it can also save the configuration of a lot of other network devices such as Juniper routers, foundry switches or netscreen devices.
